Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) Mayor Barrister Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh on Thursday urged city dwellers to complete the slaughtering of sacrificial animals by the second day of Eid-ul-Azha, reports UNB.

The mayor noted that after working for 72 hours to keep Dhaka clean and ensure that Eid is joyous and hassle-free for everyone, the city corporation manpower should get the opportunity to rest and enjoy the festival with their families as well.

The mayor made the call while talking to the media after inaugurating the Interim Waste Transfer Centre of Khilgaon Railway Kitchen Market in Ward-11.

“I would humbly request the city dwellers to complete the animal sacrifice within the first two days of Eid. We have a long-standing culture of sacrificing animals even on the third day,” Taposh said.

Responding to a question on bringing the Aedes mosquito menace in the city under control, the Dhaka South mayor said, “We are aware of our responsibilities. Last year too, we successfully tackled the spread of Aedes mosquitoes. We have all the preparations, capabilities, and plans.”

Dhaka South City Corporation Secretary Akramuzzaman, Chief Property Officer Russell Sabrin, Chief Waste Management Officer Md Iftekhar Ahmed Chowdhury, among others, were present at the time.
