DU suspends 128 students over July uprising violence

Dhaka University (DU) administration has suspended 128 students for their alleged involvement in violence during the July-August mass uprising last year.

University Registrar Munshi Shamsuddin Ahmed informed reporters that the decision was taken at an emergency syndicate meeting held on Monday.

"It was decided to suspend 128 students; however, the deadline was not fixed," he said.

DU Vice Chancellor Niaz Ahmed Khan presided over the syndicate meeting.

The university authorities have formed an investigation committee headed by Syndicate member Professor Tajmeri S. Islam.

A final decision will be taken on their case based on the report of this investigation committee.

Identities of the suspended students were not disclosed.
