The government has extended the Durga Puja holiday by one more day, according to Mahfuz Alam, the special assistant to the chief adviser,
A notification regarding this will be issued soon, he said while talking to reporters at the Dhakeshwari Temple on Tuesday morning.
The formal celebrations of Durga Puja begin on Wednesday, with the final day, Dashami, falling on Sunday, October 13. On Dashami, with the immersion of the idol, Durga Puja for the Hindu community will conclude.
As per the government calendar, October 13 is the general holiday for Durga Puja. In addition to this, October 10 will also be observed as a holiday for the religious festival of the Hindu community.
Altogether, the Durga Puja holiday this year will extend for four days.
