The price of eggs has started to fall in the market owing to several steps taken by the government to keep the commodity within the purchasing capacity of the common people.
However, the price of chicken has increased abnormally. The price of broiler chicken has increased by Tk 5-10 per kg.
On the other hand, the price of raw pepper has decreased slightly in the market, as per a report in a local news portal.
Besides, the prices of vegetables have not come down as yet.
Traders said that the prices of eggs are coming down due to the regular operation of various government agencies in the market and increasing the supply of eggs to farmers and corporations.
Moreover, the government is allowing the import of another 4.5 million eggs with duty exemption. This is also acting as a catalyst behind the price reduction.
Meanwhile, at the same time, the price of broiler chicken has increased by Tk 10 per kg in the market.
The price of chicken increased in the previous week as well. Chicken prices, which are now between Tk 205 to 215, were between Tk 180 two weeks ago.
