Eid-ul-Azha, the second biggest religious festival of Muslims, will be celebrated in the country on the 10th of Zilhajj. The National Moon Sighting Committee will decide when Eid-ul-Azha will be celebrated. But before that, the Bangladesh Meteorological Department disclosed the coordinates of the moon.
Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) has released the coordinates of the new moon of Zilhajj month of 1445 Hijri, as per a report on a local news agency.
According to the Meteorological Department, the moon of Zilhajj month is expected to be sighted in the sky of Bangladesh on Friday. In that case, Eid-ul-Azha may be celebrated on June 17 in the country.
According to the Islamic Foundation, the National Moon Sighting Committee will sit in a meeting at the conference room of the Foundation at Baitul Mukarram in the capital after Maghrib prayers on Friday to fix the date of Eid-ul-Azha. Minister of Religion Faridul Haque Khan is scheduled to preside over the meeting. The decision will be taken after reviewing the news of moon sighting there.
However, according to Islamic Shariat, there is a condition to see the moon with naked eyes at the beginning of the lunar month.
If the moon is sighted on Friday, the month of Zilhajj will begin on Saturday (June 8). In this case, Eid-ul-Azha will be celebrated in the country on June 17 (Monday). In this case, the month of Zilqad will end in 29 days.
However, if the moon is not sighted on Friday for any reason, then the month of Zilqad will complete 30 days on Saturday. The month of Zilhajj will begin on Sunday (June 9), in which case Eid-ul-Azha will be celebrated on June 18 (Tuesday) in the country.
