Renowned journalist Azad Talukder, editor of Chattogram-based news portal ‘Ekushey Patrika’, passed away in the early hours of Wednesday.
The journalist was suffering from cancer. He breathed his last while undergoing treatment at a hospital in Dhaka at the age of 45, reports BSS.
His first Namaj-e Janaza will be held after the Johr prayers on Wednesday at Jamiatul Falah National Mosque in Chattogram.
He will be buried at his family graveyard after second and third Namaj-e-Janaza at Chattogram Press Club and Padua High School premises in Rangunia Upazila respectively.
Information and Broadcasting Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud expressed profound shock and sorrow at the death of renowned journalist Azad Talukder.
In a condolence message, the minister conveyed deep sympathy to the bereaved family members and prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul.
“His premature death is very much painful…he [Azad] will be remembered in the field of journalism in Chattogram for long,” the condolence message mentioned, adding ‘Azad Talukder was a fearless and dedicated journalist.’
Meanwhile, president of Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalists Omar Faruque and secretary general Dip Azad expressed deep shock at the death of journalist Azad Talukder. They recalled the contributions of late Talukder in the field of journalism and prayed for his eternal peace and also conveyed deep sympathy to the bereaved family.
