Elevated expressway: FDC ramp set to open in Feb

An exit ramp of the Dhaka Elevated Expressway's Karwan Bazar section, in front of the FDC, is set to open in February, according to the Roads and Highways Department (RHD).

Elevated Expressway Project Director A H M Shakhawat Akhter said, "The Karwan Bazar ramp of the Dhaka Elevated Expressway is on track to open in February."

The ramp is currently under construction and is expected to be completed by the end of January. Once it opence, it will be a major improvement for traffic in the area, he told a private television channel.

The Dhaka Elevated Expressway is currently under construction and expected to be completed by 2024.

On September 2, 2023, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the 11.5-kilometre section from the Airport to Tejgaon area.

On the route, there are 15 ramps, with two at the airport, three in Kuril, four in Banani, three in Mohakhali, two in Bijoy Sarani, and one in Farmgate.

The length of the expressway’s main route will be 19.73 kilometres, once completed.

It will connect the airport with Kutubkhali near the Dhaka-Chattogram Highway via Banani, Tejgaon, Moghbazar, Kamalapur, Sayedabad, and Jatrabari areas.

The estimated budget for this project is Tk 89.4 billion, with the Bangladesh government providing Tk 24.13 billion of the funding.
