Additional Commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police Harunor Rashid says he is in Dhaka and doing office work.
When contacted on Monday afternoon, the much-discussed police officer said he went to the office in the morning, reports bdnews24.com.
“The office was completely quiet. I left after around an hour.”
Harun said he was at the office on Sunday as well when the Awami League government fell.
During his stint at the Detective Branch, Harun took six coordinators of the Anti-discrimination Student Movement into custody, citing concerns over their security.
He posted a video of himself dining with some of the coordinators on Facebook. Later, a video message announcing the suspension of the anti-discrimination protests was circulated when the coordinators were in DB custody.
The coordinators later said that they had been forcibly detained and pushed to issue the statement against their will.
They also said they had gone on an extended hunger strike until they secured their release.
Amid backlash over his treatment of the situation, Harun was transferred as DMP’s head of crime and operations.
