Former National Board of Revenue (NBR) officer Matiur Rahman has taken voluntary retirement amid allegations of corruptions.
His retirement would be effective from August 29, the Internal Resources Division (IRD) said in a circular on Wednesday.
Matiur applied for retirement upon completing 25 years of service, the IRD circular said. He was granted voluntary retirement under sections 44(1) and 51 of the Government Service Act 2018.
Due to the voluntary nature of his retirement, the former NBR officer would not be entitled to post-retirement leave, lump sum grants, or pension benefits, it added.
As allegations of corruption surfaced against Matiur, the finance ministry transferred him to the IRD from the NBR on June 23.
However, he did not report to his new workplace for more than a month.
An IRD source said Matiur applied for voluntary retirement while in hiding.
Matiur has gone into hiding since the media ran reports that he has amassed illegal assets last month after his son shared a post on Facebook mentioning the purchase of a goat for Tk 11.2 million ahead of Eid-ul-Azha.
Meanwhile, the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has been investigating Matiur over allegations of corruption and money laundering.
