The temporary expulsion order for 37 students of Khulna University of Engineering and Technology (KUET) has been withdrawn.
Additionally, all the seven residential halls were reopened on Wednesday afternoon following a decision made during the university's syndicate meeting.
On April 14, the syndicate had decided to temporarily expel the 37 students over disciplinary violations on the campus during violent clashes on February 18 and 19.
That decision has now been revoked after a review of the situation, KUET registrar Md Anisur Rahman Bhuiyan confirmed to the media.
As per the same meeting, six halls for male students and one for female students have reopened.
Academic classes are set to resume from May 4.
In another development, students from Dhaka University (DU), Jahangirnagar University (JU), BUET, the Seven Colleges, and various other educational institutions in Dhaka are set to block the road at Shahbagh once again at 9:30 pm today, demanding the resignation of the KUET vice-chancellor.
This announcement was made by a coordinator of the movement Mosaddeq Ali Ibn Mohammad at 4 pm on Wednesday, according to a UNB report.
Earlier, they held a protest march under the banner: "Students of all educational institutions of Dhaka including DU, JU, JnU, BUET, and Seven Colleges stand beside KUET."
The Dhaka-based students are expressing solidarity with the movement of the students of Khulna University of Engineering and Technology (KUET), where dozens of protesters have been on hunger strike.
Mosaddeq said, "We don’t want public suffering. That’s why for the past four-five days we held programmes on the campus. Though we blockaded Shahbagh briefly last night, the interim government didn’t pay attention. They are forcing us to take tougher steps."
"They want to shift the blame on BNP to avoid responsibility. If the education adviser wants, they can remove this VC with one signature. They want to politicise it. We will not let this evil politics continue," he added.
