Film producer Mahmud Ruhan committed suicide by hanging himself with a fan at a mess in the Rajabazar area in Dhaka on Wednesday night.
His roommate returned to the mess around 11:00 pm, opened the door and found Ruhan hanging with a noose around his neck wrapped in a bed sheet with a fan and informed police.
Police recovered the body of 27-year-old Ruhan and sent it to the Dhaka Medical College Hospital morgue, according to local media reports.
Shaon Kumar Biswas, sub-inspector (SI) of Hazaribagh Police Station, Ruhan got divorced from his wife a month ago.
He committed suicide by hanging himself in depression due to separation from his wife and various family reasons, but the cause of death can be confirmed after getting the autopsy report, said the SI.
Ruhan has produced many popular films including 'Redram', which streamed online platform Chorki.
Moreover, he is the executive producer of popular drama series like 'Punorjonmo', 'Champa House', 'Shuklapakkha' 'The Silence', 'Ararat'.
