Fire at Yellow showroom in Dhanmondi

A fire broke out at a Yellow showroom in capital Dhaka’s Dhanmondi on Sunday.

The blaze started around 3:30pm and continued burning even at 6:45pm, Prothom Alo reports.

Yellow is a brand under Beximco Group. Beximco Group's co-founder is Salman F Rahman.

A five-storey building houses the showroom with Yellow on the first four floors and a private company on the top floor.

Eyewitnesses said that as the fire was set to the showroom, fire service men rushed in and tried to reach the scene but were deterred by protesters. Later in the evening, they again returned and tried to put out the fire.

Various parts of Dhaka, including Dhanmandi, have witnessed protests and clashes on the first day of the non-cooperation movement called by the Anti-discrimination Student Movement, demanding the resignation of the government.
