Four people died after a fire broke out at ‘Saudia’, a residential hotel in Bashatala, Shahjadpur, on Monday.
The victims’ bodies were found inside a bathroom on the sixth floor, with the staircase door locked, said Fire Service and Civil Defence Headquarters Station Officer Talha bin Jasim.
The fire broke out on the second floor of the six-storey building around noon, and the fire service control room received the information at 12:17 pm, according to a UNB report.
In response, two firefighting units were dispatched to the scene, said Rashed Bin Khalid, duty officer at the control room.
They managed to bring the blaze under control by 1:03 pm.
