Former Secretary of the Ministry of Social Welfare, Ismail Hossain, was detained at the Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport when he was about to travel to the United States.
A team from the Detective Branch (DB) of the police arrested him on Friday night and handed him over to the airport police station.
Police showed Ismail arrested under Section 54 and produced him before the court.
They have also applied for a seven-day remand to interrogate him under police custody.
