The foreign ministry on Sunday accorded a farewell reception to foreign secretary (FS) Masud Bin Momen.
According to the foreign ministry, he will be on the post retirement leave (PRL) from Monday for one year.
The government has decided to cancel the contractual appointment of the FS, foreign adviser Towhid Hossain told the FE on Sunday evening.
The appointment of the next FS may be announced on Monday, he added.
The foreign adviser, who chaired the reception, recalled the contribution of the outgoing FS, who took over the helm of the foreign ministry in 2019.
In November 2022, his tenure was extended for two years.
