Government mulls extending Eid and Durga Puja holidays

A proposal has been made to extend the public holidays for the upcoming year's Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha to five days each.

Additionally, a two-day holiday has been proposed for the Durga Puja.

Currently, the Eid holiday is for three days. However, in some years, it has been extended through executive orders. 

This year, the government extended the Puja holiday by one day through an executive order.

Government sources have revealed that the Ministry of Public Administration's proposal to extend the  holidays for Eid and Durga Puja will be placed at the advisory council meeting today (Thursday).

Meanwhile, government sources have also said that a decision on raising the maximum age limit for entering government jobs may be taken at the meeting.
