Government employees and pensioners will receive a special incentive ranging between 10 per cent and 15 per cent, effective from July this year, says a finance ministry notification.
It said that employees in Grades 1 to 9 will enjoy a 10 per cent hike on their basic pay every year. On the other hand, those working in Grades 10 to 20 will see an increase by 15 per cent on their basic payment.
The notification also mentioned that the special incentive would not be less than Tk 1,000 for serving employees and Tk 500 for pensioners.
The notification was issued a day after Finance Adviser Dr Salehuddin Ahmed unveiled a TK 7.90 trillion budget for the fiscal year 2025-2026 on Monday.
It further noted that employees on Post-Retirement Leave (PRL) will get the special incentive based on their last drawn basic salary prior to entering PRL.
On the other hand, government employees appointed on a contractual basis under any designated grade of the national pay scale, the allowance will be calculated based on the last drawn basic salary immediately before their contractual appointment.
However, if such a contractually appointed person is a pensioner, they will be eligible for the incentive on either the existing portion of their pension or the last drawn basic salary before contractual appointment-whichever is applicable, but not both.
Besides, employees who are under temporary suspension will receive the special incentive on 50 per cent of their last drawn basic salary prior to suspension. However, the employees on leave without pay would not be eligible for this special incentive, according to the notification.
