Govt plans to construct 30 paddy silos: Food Minister

Food Minister Sadhan Chandra Majumder has said the government has taken up a plan to construct paddy silos across the country with a target to enhance paddy storage facilities.

"The government has taken a plan to construct paddy silos for enhancing storage facilities for paddy,"  he said while responding to a star-marked question raised by lawmaker Sajjadul Huq on behalf of treasury bench lawmaker M Mamunur Rashid Kiron of Noakhali-3 during the question-answer session at the Jatiya Sangsad on Tuesday.

The government has taken up modern paddy silo construction as a pilot project -- which is equipped with various facilities, including drying, storage -- at different places across the country, the minister told the session chaired by Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury.

Under the project, a total of 30 silos will be constructed.
