The government has started issuing National Identity (NID) services to Bangladeshi expatriates living in Kuwait to alleviate their suffering.
Election Commissioner Brig Gen (retired) Ahsan Habib inaugurated the service at the Multipurpose Hall of the Bangladesh Embassy on Friday.
Bangladesh Ambassador to Kuwait Maj Gen Md Ashikuzzaman presided over the programme while Counsellor and Head of Chancery Mohammad Moniruzzaman conducted the function.
A total of 19 expatriates were given the NID cards at the ceremony.
At present, around 0.30 million expatriates are living in Kuwait, according to local media reports.
“From now, expatriates will be able to exercise voting rights through postal ballots through national identity cards,” Ambassador Ashikuzzaman said.
