Hasnat Abdullah calls out interim government for failing to break syndicates

Hasnat Abdullah, a key coordinator of the anti-discrimination student movement, has questioned the fundamental significance of the student-people uprising.

He has pointed out that the interim government has yet to dismantle any syndicates, merely replacing their facades.

"Eggs change hands four times in Karwan Bazar even while they are still on the truck. So far, this government hasn't been able to break any syndicates. Only the signboards of the syndicates have changed. If they can't break the syndicates and control prices, then what is the primary significance of this uprising?," he wrote in a Facebook post on Wednesday.

The interim government's inability to curb soaring prices has left the people struggling, especially those with limited incomes.

Even after taking power, there's no evidence of dismantling the syndicates that plagued the previous administration.
