Home adviser sees no security threat centring upcoming Eid-ul-Azha

Home Adviser Lieutenant General Md Jahangir Alam Chowdhury (retd) on Wednesday said there was no security threat around the upcoming Eid-ul-Azha, reiterating that they have taken all possible measures to make the journey of the home-goers safe and unconstrained. 

"There is no security risk around the Eid," he said while replying to a question after visiting North Shahjahanpur Cattle Market in the capital. 

The home adviser also said they have taken the measures required to make the Eid journey safe and unrestrained.

He made the remarks after visiting the Mohakhali Bus Terminal in the capital following his visit to Kamlapur Railway Station and North Shahjahanpur Cattle Market in the capital.

At the Mohakhali Bus Stand, the Home Adviser said they have already given some instructions to owners and workers in the transport sector to make the Eid journey safe and pleasant in a meeting with their representatives. 

Replying to a question, he said armed forces personnel along with the members of police, Ansar and other law enforcing agencies will be in robust patrol on the roads and highways to make the security foolproof as no incident of dacoity and mugging takes place.

He also asked the law enforcement agencies to take legal action against those who will board three passengers on the motorbike and have no helmet. 

Jagangir reiterated that none will be allowed to charge extra fare and board extra passengers on the buses, saying that the owners and workers will help to pursue it. 

"Otherwise, punitive legal action will be taken against the violators of the instructions," he added.
