The Higher Secondary Certificate and equivalent exams, which have been suspended for some time, will resume from Sept 11.

The Secondary and Higher Education Board issued a new schedule for the exams on Thursday in a notice signed by Inter-Education Board Exam Controller Committee Convener and Dhaka Board Education Controller Md Abul Bashar, reports bdnews24.com.

Exams will be held in Dhaka, Rajshahi, Jashore, Cumilla, Chattogram, Barishal, Sylhet, Dinajpur, and Mymensingh according to the schedule published by the board.

The public exams had been suspended amid the nationwide violence surrounding the quota reform movement protests. Amid the unrest, educational institutions across the country closed on the night of Jul 16. The HSC and equivalent exams were suspended on Jul 18.

The Inter-Education Board Coordination Committee suspended the exams indefinitely from Aug 1 when the situation deteriorated further.

Once the situation normalised, a new exam schedule was announced, with the tests set to resume on Aug 4. However, the exams were then suspended once more.

Another new schedule set Aug 11 as the date for the resumption of exams, but it was not possible to organise the exams at the time.

On Tuesday evening, Inter-Education Board Coordination Committee President and Dhaka Education Board Chairman Tapan Kumar Sarker said that a proposal had been sent to the Ministry of Education for exams to resume Sept 11. The new schedule has been published accordingly.
