India’s double standard ‘condemnable, objectionable’: Asif Nazrul

While India has no regret about the numerous atrocities committed against the minority Muslim community on its soil, it continues to express unwarranted concern about Bangladesh's situation, Law Adviser Asif Nazrul has said, calling such behavior "condemnable and objectionable."

Referring to a survey conducted by Voice of America Bangla, he said in a Facebook post on Friday that most people in Bangladesh (64.1 per cent) believe that the interim government is providing more security to minority groups than the previous Awami League government.

"We have firsthand seen how students, madrasas, and political parties, along with the people of Bangladesh, worked to ensure the safety of minorities during the recent Durga Puja. Even after the brutal and provocative murder of lawyer Saiful Islam in Chattogram, Bangladeshi Muslims showed immense restraint and patience," he added.

Earlier on Tuesday, India expressed concern over the arrest and denial of bail to Chinmoy Krishna Das Brahmachari, the spokesperson of the Bangladesh Sammilito Hindu Jagaran Manch, which Bangladesh responded by stating that it is "an internal matter of Bangladesh."
