The number of active internet connections in the country soared by 738,000 to over 99.98 million in February this year from about 99.25 million in January.
According to figures published by Bangladesh Telecommunication Regul-atory Commission (BTRC) on Wednesday, mobile operators have the lion's share of 94.25 per cent with 94.2 million connections.
Broadband operators have 5.74 million connections while Wi-Max operators were still continuing with only 5,000 connections.
It would be the biggest jump after the telecom industry witnessing a decline in growth due to BTRC restrictions on Grameenphone and Robi amid audit claims of more than Tk 130 billion.
The industry regained momentum recently following partial payment of the amount, insiders said.
Some 90 million connections were recorded in August 2018.
