In a swift turnabout, the Jatiya Party has announced its MPs-elect will take oath on Wednesday.
This decision comes just hours after the party initially declared its lawmakers would not take oath as scheduled.
In a press release on Tuesday evening, the JaPa asked its MPs-elect to attend the deputy leader of the opposition’s office in Parliament.
At the same time, it said that it had cancelled its meeting scheduled for Thursday.
Having won only 11 constituencies in the 12th national election, the JaPa faces more than a half-reduction in representation, down from 26 in the current parliament.
All MPs-elect of the 12th national election are scheduled to take oath on Wednesday.
Speaker Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury will administer the oath-taking.
