JS body recommends setting up scanning machines in Dhaka, Ctg railway stations

Parliamentary Standing Committee on Railways Ministry on Tuesday recommended taking necessary measures to set up scanning machines at Dhaka and Chattogram rail stations to beef up security.

The recommendation made in the first meeting of the standing committee held at parliament secretariat with its chairman ABM Fazle Karim Chowdhury in the chair, said a release in Dhaka.

Committee members Railways Minister Md Zillul Hakim, Shafiqul Islam Shimul, Muhammad Saiful Islam, Md Shafiqur Rahman and Mst Nurun Nahar Begum were present.

The meeting also recommended the ministry to make easy ticketing system for general passengers.

The meeting suggested the ministry computerise the signalling system of stations from Natore to Panchagarh, reopen Yeasinpur, Basudebpur and Malanchi stations and restart Uttara Express from Parbotipur to Rajshahi.

Secretary of the railway ministry and senior officials of the ministry and parliament secretariat were present.
