The interim government would sit with political parties and stakeholders to finalise the draft of the July Proclamation, said Adviser Mahfuj Alam on Tuesday.

Addressing a press briefing in the evening, he said that the political parties which had supported the July Mass upsurge would be invited to the dialogue.

The date of announcement of the July Proclamation would also be fixed during the meeting, he informed.

The July Proclamation is to contain the context of the mass upsurge, and on the basis of this proclamation, a legal document may be prepared.

Responding to a question, he said that the draft had been sent to several political parties like BNP, Jamaat, Gono Shanghati, Islamic Andolon and Gono Odhikar Parishad.

“They have accepted most of the points of the draft but also shown reservations on some points and they will give their views on those points during the dialogue,” Mr Mahfuj said, adding that the proclamation would be announced after reaching consensus.

He said that Jatiya Party was not considered as a pro-July mass upsurge party, which was why they had been excluded from the dialogue.

The July document would explain the legal basis of this government and would be binding for the next elected government, he added in response to a question about whether this proclamation would be incorporated into the constitution.

Press Secretary to the Chief Adviser Shafiqul Alam told the briefing that four reform commissions would submit their reports to the Chief Adviser on Wednesday and the summary of the reports would be made public.
