Subrata Kumar Bala, the superintendent of Kashimpur High-Security Central Jail, has been withdrawn from the facility following the escape of 209 inmates on Tuesday.
A new jail superintendent was appointed in his place on Thursday.
Meanwhile, prisoners at the Gazipur District Jail started rioting from this morning following the release of some politically-affiliated inmates.
Gunshots were heard from outside of the jail. At least 16 people including 13 prisoners and 3 jail guards were shot during the clash.
