KU students stage protest amid VC’s resignation rumours

Students at Khulna University staged protests as they heard that their vice chancellor was about to resign on Sunday.

They demand that their vice chancellor, Mahmud Hossain, continue to serve as their VC, who has been a vocal supporter of students during recent quota reform protests.

Since Sheikh Hasina resigned as prime minister and fled to India earlier this month, university students across the country have been demanding that their vice chancellors resign.

While many have resigned, students at Khulna University are calling on Mr Hossain to stay, praising his support during anti-discrimination demonstrations.

Mr Hossain later told the students he would consider their concerns but reminded them that he is part of a team running the university.
