A Munshiganj-bound launch capsized in the Shitalakshya River in Narayanganj after a collision with a cargo vessel on Sunday.
The accident took place at Al Aminnagar area of Narayanganj at about 2:30 pm on Sunday, said the Department of Fire Service and Civil Defence.
Three diving units from the fire department reached the spot after getting information. They started operations to rescue the passengers, the media cell said.
Md. Shahjahan Shikdar, a fire service media cell official, told the FE that one dead body was recovered during the operation.
However, he could not say how many passengers were on board it.
They also identified the vessel as MV Ruposhi 9, he added.
