It is a matter of investigation how a student in Rangpur was shot and killed when law enforcement agencies were not given any orders to open fire, said State Minister for Shipping Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury on Saturday, demanding a fair investigation into this.

“At the same time, we demand a fair trial to find out who shot a student of the Residential Model School because there was no reason for that student to be in the location where he was shot,” Mr Chowdhury told a views exchange meeting in the Dinajpur district Awami League office.

Addressing the police firing on protesters, the state minister said that vigorous efforts are on to blame these killings on law enforcement agencies that protect the country and ensure public safety.

“Besides, the army, which is known globally for its peacekeeping missions, is being targeted with false video content," he noted.

He called on the Awami League leaders and activists to unite, saying, “Once we are united, none, let alone Jamaat-Shibir, can defeat us, the Awami League.”
