A legal notice has been served on Tuesday to the concerned government bodies to take necessary steps in 72 hours for the proper management of coronavirus-related medical waste.
Advocate Md JR Khan Robin, a Supreme Court lawyer, sent the legal notice through emails.
The lawyer informed that he had sent the copy of the notice to the health secretary, local government secretary, environment secretary, mayors of Dhaka north and south city corporations, chief waste management officers of the two city corporations of Dhaka and director general of directorate of health services for taking steps to this effect.
In the legal notice, he said around 14,500 tonnes of coronavirus-related medical waste have so far been produced reportedly, which is harmful for the environment and human health, particularly for the cleaners.
