Low pressure area over Bay intensifies into well-marked low

The low-pressure area over the Northwest Bay and adjoining regions has intensified into a well-marked low over the same area.

“It is likely to intensify further,” said a Met Office bulletin on Wednesday.

The southwest monsoon has advanced up to Barishal, Chattogram, Sylhet, and Mymensingh divisions, as well as the eastern part of the Dhaka division, it said.

Light to moderate rain or thundershowers with lightning flashes and temporary gusty winds are likely at most places over Mymensingh, Dhaka, Khulna, Barishal, Chattogram, and Sylhet divisions, it added.

It also predicted rain at a few places over Rangpur and Rajshahi divisions, with moderately heavy to very heavy falls at places over Khulna, Barishal, Chattogram, and Sylhet divisions.

Day temperatures may fall by 1-2°C and night temperatures may fall slightly across the country in the 24 hours commencing at 9:00 am on Wednesday.
