Magnitude 7.1 earthquake strikes parts of Bangladesh

A 7.1 magnitude earthquake jolted Dhaka and other parts of the country on Tuesday morning.

The earthquake was felt at 7:05 am (Bangladesh time) and the earthquake's epicentre was 618 kilometres northwest of Met Office Seismic Centre, Agargaon, Dhaka, according to Bangladesh Meteorological Department, as per local media reports.

According to USGS, the earthquake's epicentre was 90 kilometres northeast of Lobuche, Nepal.

The tremor was also felt in China, Nepal, Bhutan and India.
