Metro rail fare will not increase this month as the decision to impose VAT on fares has not been finalised.
However, a technical committee has been formed regarding how VAT will be added to the metro fare, local media reports.
This decision was taken in a meeting held between NBR and DMTCL around 2.30pm on Thursday, ABM Amin Ullah Noori, secretary of the Roads and Highways Department, told the media.
The VAT exemption period on metro rail tickets ended on June 30. The VAT department of NBR issued an order on June 6, imposing a 15 per cent VAT on metro rail tickets from July 1.
