Mild heat wave may abate

Bangladesh Meteorology Department (BMD) has predicted the ongoing mild heat wave may abate at some places in the country, in the next 24 hours commencing 9:00 am today (Tuesday).

"Mild heat wave is sweeping over Rangpur, Rajshahi, Mymensingh, Dhaka, Khulna and Sylhet divisions and the districts of Chattogram, Chandpur, Cumilla, Noakhali, Feni and Bhola and it may abate," said a Met office bulletin issued this morning.

"Light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty wind is likely to occur at most places over Rajshahi, Khulna, Barishal, Chattogram and Sylhet divisions and at many places over Rangpur, Dhaka and Mymensingh divisions with moderately heavy to very heavy falls at places over the country," it added.

However, the day and night temperature may fall by (1-2)oC over the country, reports BSS.

Country's maximum temperature on Monday was recorded 38.4 degrees Celsius at Chuadanga, while today's minimum temperature 24.5 degrees Celsius was recorded at Kutubdia.

The highest rainfall was recorded 70mm at Feni in the last 24 hours till 6:00 am today.
