The Bangladesh Meteorological Department says a mild heatwave sweeping over 13 districts of the country is likely to continue for two more days as there has been little rain despite the monsoon being fairly active over Bangladesh.
The weather forecast for Tuesday says a mild heatwave is sweeping over eight districts in the Rangpur Division and four in the Sylhet Division as well as Feni. The heatwave may continue for two more days as temperatures are unlikely to change much.
However, the Met Office forecast says that there is likely to be more rain from Friday.
The country’s highest temperature was recorded at 36.5 degrees Celsius in Rangpur, Sayedpur, Dimla and Srimangal on Tuesday. Srimangal also recorded the country’s highest rainfall at 53 mm.
Moderate rain is likely to occur at a few places over the Rangpur, Mymensingh, Chattogram and Sylhet divisions and some places over Rajshahi, Dhaka, Khulna and Barishal divisions on Wednesday and Thursday, the forecast read.
