Arrested Chairman of 'Child and Old Age Care' Milton Somaddar used to derive ‘brutal pleasure’ from cutting off the hands and legs of elderly persons at his charity home, said Additional Commissioner Harunor Rashid, chief of Dhaka Metropolitan Police’s Detective Branch Harun-or-Rashid on Sunday.

“Terrible, fearsome, and hair-raising stories are being unearthed through interrogating him,” he told the media at the DB (Detective Branch) office in Dhaka city.

“Some blade and knives were found in his (Milton Somaddar) operation theatre. He himself performed surgeries there,” he said.

“Milton used to cut off the putrefied body parts of old people and handicapped children by using blades and knives. He amputated some old people by cutting their hands, legs, and fingers, taking brutal pleasure in their pains and bleeding,” he said.

Milton never sought hospital for those staying in his care centre, said Mr Harun, adding: “Tk 12.5 million is still in the bank account of Milton.”

He further said that Milton used to collect money from people via social media, citing reasons such as helping helpless elderly people and arranging graves for deceased elderly people.

He said that Milton collected money by exaggerating the number of graves.

He said that Milton failed to prove his claim of having arranged 100 graves for the burial of deceased elderly persons.

“Milton Somaddar is a drug addict and psychopath. He used to beat the people who were in his care centre. How he became a humanitarian is something we (DB) cannot understand,” he said.

He said that they would seek more seven days remand against Milton.

Milton Somaddar was arrested on Wednesday during a raid in Dhaka city’s Mirpur.

He faced serious allegations, including collecting money from people under the pretext of treating helpless and poor elderly people, stealing kidneys and other human organs, human trafficking, creating false death certificates, and usurping lands.

The National Human Rights Commission has called on the DMP Commissioner and the Director General of the Department of Social Services to take appropriate measures after conducting proper investigation into allegations against Milton Somaddar.
