Fakhrul taken to court

BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has been taken to court.

He was taken to court from DB’s Minto Road office at 8:10 pm on Sunday, according to a local media report.

Detective Police (DB) arrested Fakhrul from his house in Gulshan-2 of Dhaka city on Sunday morning.

Mirza Fakhrul's lawyer Syed Zainul Abedin said that Fakhrul was arrested in the case filed at Ramna police station on Saturday.

Police have applied to send Fakhrul to jail, while they have applied for his bail. The matter is set to be heard in the court of Dhaka Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM), he said.

DMP Commissioner Habibur Rahman had said Fakhrul was arrested in the case filed at Paltan police station in the case of murder and vehicle burning.

Around 9:30 on Sunday morning, DB members went to Fakhrul's house and arrested him, according to the report.
