The body of a tourist, who went missing after getting into the sea for bathing on Wednesday, was found floating at the Nazirartek point of Cox's Bazar beach on Thursday.

The victim was identified as Mohammad Sajib, 26, the son of Kazi Jahangir Hossain of the Pallabi area of Dhaka.

Md Tanvir Hossain, executive magistrate of the district administration's tourism cell, said that Sajib and his friends from Dhaka came to visit the sea beach.

While they were taking a bath at Sugandha Point in the afternoon, five of them were swept away by the tides.

The magistrate added that Lifeguard workers managed to rescue four of them, but Sajib was being swept away.

He said the locals spotted the body wash ashore at the beach around 8:00 am and informed the tourism cell.

Later, a team of beach workers recovered the body, said the executive magistrate.
