Mozammel Babu, Shyamal Dutta, Shahriar Kabir placed on seven-day remand

A court in Dhaka has placed journalists Mozammel Babu, Shyamal Dutta and advisory council president of the Ekattorer Ghatak Dalal Nirmul Committee Shahriar Kabir on a seven-day remand for their interrogation in a murder cases filed at Bhasantek and Ramna police stations in Dhaka.

Dhaka Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Md Sanaullah passed the orders when they were produced before the court on Tuesday morning.

Mozammel Babu and Shyamal Dutta were detained while trying to enter India illegally through Dhobaura border in Mymensingh on Monday. Shahriar Kabir was arrested from Dhaka’s Tejgaon area on Monday night.

Shyamal Dutta, editor of Bhorer Kagoj, is an accused in a case filed at Bhashantek Police Station over a shooting incident that led to the death of a youth.

Mozammel Babu, the managing director of Ekattor TV, and Shahriar Kabir are accused in a case filed with Ramna Model Police Station over the death of domestic help Liza on July 18.
