Myanmar wants to start Rohingya repatriation, says Hasan Mahmud

Foreign Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud has said that Myanmar wants to start Rohingya repatriation after the country’s current situation becomes normal.

The minister said this while talking to the journalists at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Sunday after returning home from India.

He went to India to attend the Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation (BIMSTEC) Foreign Ministers' Conference.

Myanmar Foreign Minister Than Swe told Mahmud that they want to start the repatriation of Rohingya; but after the current situation normalised, he added.

They also emphasised that they have interests in commercial transactions, Mahmud said.
