Another worker who suffered burn injuries in the explosion at the Sharmin Steel Ltd factory in Narayanganj’s Siddhirganj has died, bringing the total death toll to four.

Md Zakaria, 20, who had suffered burns on 35 per cent of his body, died while undergoing treatment at the Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery in Dhaka on Wednesday morning, said Tariqul Islam, the institute’s resident surgeon.

Earlier, Mozammel Haque (30), Shariful Islam (26), and Saiful Islam (30), died while undergoing treatment.

Currently, a 25-year-old named Iqbal Hossain is in critical condition at the hospital and is receiving care, according to Tariqul.

Five workers suffered burn injuries after a gas line exploded at the steel mill in Godnail early on Saturday morning.

Among them, Mozammel had burns all over his body, Saiful suffered burns on over 60 per cent of his body, Shariful on over 57 per cent of his body, and Iqbal on over 30 per cent of his body.
