National emergency helpline service 999, operated by Bangladesh Police, is now fully operational after eight days, according to a statement.

Police Headquarters on Tuesday said people can now use the toll-free service, which had been shut down since August 5 due to the absence of police members, for their emergency support.

The National Emergency Service includes ambulance, police, fire, and crime-related assistance.

If someone is in danger and calls for help, they must provide specific information. Based on that information, a police officer from the nearest police station contacts the person. Necessary actions are then taken based on the information provided.

Meanwhile, as many as 628 police stations, out of total 639, have resumed operations till Monday evening.
