Dhaka Metropolitan Police have announced that traders will not be allowed to conduct business on roads in Ramadan.

Strict measures have been taken to this end, said Md Munibur Rahman, additional commissioner, at a press conference at DMP Media Centre on Thursday, according to local media reports.

Offices close at 3:30 PM in Ramadan, prompting a rush of vehicles up until Iftar, leading to unexpected traffic jams at key intersections, he said.

The DMP additional commissioner urged the city residents to start for home at or before the office closing time to alleviate the traffic congestion situation.
