No promotion to deputy secretary, joint secretary without exam: Reform Commission
The Public Administration Reform Commission is set to recommend that no one be promoted to the positions of deputy secretary and joint secretary in the civil service without undergoing an examination, said commission Chairman Abdul Muyeed Chowdhury.
“No promotion will be allowed without appearing for the examination and the Public Service Commission will take the examination. Those who score below 70 marks would not be promoted,” he said while speaking at a view-exchange meeting, held at the Secretariat, UNB rpeorts.
The promotion through examination will only apply for the deputy secretary and joint secretary levels and the government will provide promotions after that, he said.
"If someone from the Customs cadre scores the highest in the examination, they will be named at the top of the list,” he added.
Besides, the commission also suggested taking 50 per cent from the administration cadre and 50 per cent from other cadres in case of promotion from the existing 75 and 25 per cent, respectively.
