Garment workers continued protests in Ashulia, near Savar on the outskirts of Dhaka, on Wednesday, demanding various concessions, prompting authorities to close over 60 factories.
Mohammad Sarwar Alam, Superintendent of Police for the Ashulia Industrial Zone-1, said workers arrived at their factories as scheduled but began protesting shortly afterward.
When agitated workers questioned why Ha-Meem Group's factory was still operating, the factory announced a closure, he said.
Mr Alam added that over 60 factories in Ashulia were shut down in response to the protests, and the situation is currently under control.
