Plastic industry leaders urge systematic control of plastic goods, not ban

Plastic industry leaders on Wednesday called for systematic management of plastic goods and waste rather than imposing any ban for the sake of sustainable and environment-friendly growth of the plastic industry.

During a seminar titled "Plastic Waste Recycling for Sustainability & Investment" held in Dhaka, they pointed out that countries with systematic measures for controlling plastic use are more successful in managing plastics than those countries that have enacted outright bans.

The seminar was jointly organised by Plastic Products Business Promotion Council (PPBPC), Ministry of Commerce and Bangladesh Plastic Goods Manufacturers & Exporters Association (BPGMEA).
