Awami League President and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has inaugurated the party’s platinum jubilee programme in the historic Suhrawardy Udyan in the capital.
The 75th founding anniversary event was inaugurated at 3:42 pm on Sunday, with the Prime Minister raising the national flag and Awami League general secretary Obaidul Quader hoisting the party's flag, followed by a rendition of the national anthem and the release of balloons and pigeons.
To mark the occasion, a discussion programme and a cultural event have been organised by the party. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will chair the events.
Activists of the ruling Awami League and its affiliate organisations began thronging to the Suhrawardy Udyan in the morning, carrying flags and banners.
