Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will visit areas affected by Cyclone Rimal in Kalapara of Patuakhali district on May 30.
Noor Qutubul Alam, Deputy Commissioner of Patuakhali district, confirmed this on Tuesday, a local media outlet reports.
“Prime Minister will visit Patuakhali on May 30. We are working on her visit”, he said.
The deputy commissioner also informed that as many as 327,000 people have been affected in the district. Besides, some 235 houses were completely destroyed, while 1,865 houses were partially destroyed. The agricultural sector suffered losses exceeding Tk 260 million, while the fishery sector's losses are estimated to be over Tk 280 million.
People have returned to their homes from the cyclone shelter, he added.
